This chassis-specific configuration was developed for customers who want to install a hidden YDC Compact Reverse in Mazda RX-8 models
In this Reverse configuration, the master cylinder is positioned toward the front of the vehicle, while the lever is still pulled toward the driver
The handbrake can be installed using the included universal weld-in mounting plate, an optional RX-8-specific bolt-on mounting plate or a custom mounting plate manufactured according to your requirements

Universal weld-in mounting plate — included
The universal plate is welded directly to the metal transmission tunnel in the most suitable position for the specific interior configuration
This option is particularly suitable when:
The factory center console has already been modified
A custom handbrake position is required
Welding is not a problem and a lower-cost mounting solution is preferred
The vehicle has a stripped or custom motorsport interior
The final installation position can be selected according to the center console, shifter, seats and other interior components
Mazda RX-8-specific bolt-on mounting plate
The RX-8-specific bolt-on plate positions the handbrake inside the factory center console in the original ashtray area
The plate uses existing factory mounting points but requires drilling one additional mounting hole in the metal transmission tunnel
This mounting option does not require welding, but drilling one additional hole is necessary
Custom mounting plate
We can manufacture a custom mounting plate according to your preferred handbrake position and interior configuration
This option is suitable when the handbrake must be positioned differently from the standard hidden location — for example, beside the transmission tunnel or in a vehicle with modified or removed factory center-console trim

Factory center-console modifications
For the standard hidden installation, the plastic ashtray compartment must be cut out to provide clearance for the handbrake and removable lever
The factory ashtray lid remains installed and can still close completely, allowing the handbrake opening to remain hidden when the lever is removed
On LHD vehicles, the factory cigarette lighter can be retained and remain functional
On RHD vehicles, the cigarette lighter must be modified, relocated or removed because of its position relative to the handbrake installation
When a custom mounting plate is selected, the required interior modifications will depend on the requested handbrake position
The idea is simple: during everyday use, the handbrake remains almost completely hidden inside the center console. When needed, the removable lever can be installed in just a few moments, providing a fully functional hydraulic handbrake for drift, track or motorsport use. After driving, the lever can be removed again and the factory ashtray lid closed to conceal the installation

Compatibility and installation
This chassis-specific hydraulic handbrake configuration is designed for Mazda RX-8 models and is compatible with both LHD and RHD vehicles
For the standard hidden installation, the plastic ashtray compartment must be cut out. The factory ashtray lid remains installed and retains its opening and closing function
On LHD vehicles, the factory cigarette lighter can remain in its original position and remain functional. On RHD vehicles, it must be modified, relocated or removed depending on the selected mounting configuration

The RX-8-specific bolt-on plate does not require welding but requires drilling one additional hole in the metal transmission tunnel The exact installation requirements may depend on the model year, center-console configuration, carpet, seats, shifter position and other interior components
Final fitment may also be affected by previous transmission-tunnel modifications, engine or gearbox swaps, aftermarket shifters and hydraulic line routing. Additional fitting may be required for non-standard or heavily modified vehicles
