The steel plates are welded to the affected areas of the vehicle body to distribute the load across a larger surface and reinforce this known weak point of the BMW E36 chassis

Important installation information
⠀
The complete rear subframe must be removed before installation
⠀
The mounting areas must be stripped of paint, underseal, seam sealer, corrosion, and contamination before inspection
⠀
The factory mounting points and surrounding sheet metal must be carefully checked for cracks, deformation, corrosion, or previous repairs
⠀
Existing cracks and damaged sheet metal must be correctly repaired before the reinforcement plates are welded in place
⠀
The plates must not be welded directly over untreated cracks or corrosion
⠀
Each plate must be correctly formed against the vehicle body before welding
⠀
After welding, all repaired areas must receive suitable seam sealing, primer, paint, underbody protection, and internal cavity protection
⠀
Rear subframe bushings should be inspected and replaced where required while the rear axle carrier is removed
⠀
Rear suspension geometry must be checked after reassembly and a complete four-wheel alignment is recommended
⠀
Installation must be carried out by a qualified welder or workshop experienced with BMW E36 chassis reinforcement
