IronBox BMW E46 EVO III Steering Angle Adapters — Adjustable Ackermann

The IronBox BMW E46 EVO III Steering Angle Adapters are designed for drivers who require increased steering angle together with adjustable Ackermann geometry

The adjustable design allows the front steering response to be configured from a less aggressive setting to a more aggressive drift-oriented geometry according to the vehicle setup and driver preference

The adapters install onto standard BMW E46 front steering knuckles without requiring modification of the knuckles themselves

When combined with correctly modified front control arms and extended steering tie rods, the adapters can provide approximately 50° of steering angle

These adapters are not a complete bolt-on lock kit and require professional modification of the surrounding front suspension components

Main features

  • Adjustable Ackermann geometry — allows the steering characteristics to be configured for the vehicle setup and driving style
  • Approximately 50° steering angle — provides increased steering lock when used with the required supporting modifications
  • Standard E46 knuckle installation — mounts onto BMW E46 front steering knuckles without machining or welding the knuckles
  • Modified-control-arm configuration — designed to work with professionally widened and modified front control arms
  • Left- and right-side adapters — supplied as a complete pair for the front axle
  • Steel construction — designed for the loads generated during drift training and competition use
  • Blacknitride finish — provides corrosion resistance without adding a thick coating to the precision mounting surfaces
  • Competition-oriented design — used on prepared BMW E46 drift cars during training and competition

Compatibility

  • BMW 3 Series E46

Designed for models using standard BMW E46 front steering knuckles

Requires professionally modified and extended front control arms

The exact required control-arm type and ball-joint configuration must be confirmed before ordering

Requires longer steering tie rods or suitable tie-rod extension components

BMW E46 Compact compatibility depends on the installed steering-knuckle and front suspension configuration

Compatibility with BMW E46 M3 steering knuckles and non-standard front suspension conversions must be confirmed before ordering

The EVO III designation identifies this IronBox product version and does not indicate BMW M3 Evolution-specific compatibility

Required modifications and parts — not included

The front control arms must be widened by relocating the outer ball joint approximately 50–60 mm outward

The outer ball joint must also be relocated approximately 25 mm forward

The control arms require professional cutting, fabrication and welding

The steering tie rods must be lengthened using suitable extensions or longer steering components

The exact control-arm type must be confirmed for the selected E46 EVO III configuration before installation

Modified control arms, tie-rod extensions, tie-rod ends and other suspension components are not included

Compatible IronBox modified control arms and steering extension components may be purchased separately

Kit includes

  • Left-side adjustable steering angle adapter — 1 pc
  • Right-side adjustable steering angle adapter — 1 pc
  • Installation hardware

Important installation information

The stated steering angle of approximately 50° depends on the complete suspension configuration, steering rack, control-arm geometry, tie-rod length, wheel offset, tyre size and available component clearance

The selected Ackermann configuration directly changes the relationship between the inner and outer front-wheel steering angles

Toe alignment must be checked and adjusted after every Ackermann configuration change

Control-arm modification and welding must be carried out by a qualified motorsport fabrication specialist

Check the ball-joint and tie-rod mounting points for complete seating without movement or interference

Check steering, brake-line, wheel, tyre, control-arm and chassis clearance throughout the complete steering range and suspension travel

A professional wheel alignment and full inspection of the modified steering geometry are required after installation

The completed vehicle must be tested progressively after installation or adjustment
